We Teach Essential Therapy
Children are assessed on (MDPS) - Madras Development Program Skill and practical ability and put in 11 categories.
There are around 32 special children belonging to low income families trained by the school. The school provides academic, vocational, medical and psychological support to the children and their parents.
Special Education
Every child, once assessed with their mental ability, is guided towards their classroom for their respective training.

Physio Therapy
Professional physiotherapist visit Gnanadeepam thrice a week to impart physio therapeutically exercises to those children who are in need. change to word - thrice- instead of twice.
This regular therapy gives flexibility to the kids whose bones stiffened as age grows.
Speech Therapy
Professional speech therapist visit gnanadeepam thrice a week to impart speech training to those kids who are in need. Speech therapy training adds strength to these kids; they are able to learn how to speak, sound vowels, read words and sentences.
This would enable them to overcome their disability and compete with other normal kids.
Occupation Therapy
Occupation therapy includes Tailoring, weaving, block printing, Greeting card making;
Tailoring
Our children are able to make Jute articles like ladies bag, ladies purses, Fruit basket, File folders etc meticulously through intense training. Gnanadeepam is able to get regular orders from noble hearted people who appreciate their efforts. File folders and Frame door mats are big hit at Gnanadeepam. File folders made by our God's children won accolades from one and all at IIT Mumbai – JEE division. The folders have been distributed by IIT-JEE Mumbai division to their Examiners for the year 2012 IIT-JEE entrance exam. In continuation of their training, these vocational kids are given a stipend for their hard work every month. This enables them to being independent and save the money for their future.
Weaving
Our children are able to make door mats, towels, carpets, table tops etc. They learn the art with immense dedication and determination. Stipends are given to those kids who complete door mats, towels as per orders every month. Their efforts never go waste as we get regular orders and regular sales exhibits are various software organizations, who lend their hand in the upliftment of these God's children every year.
Block Printing
Our children are able to make pillow cover sets, bed sheet sets, table cloth etc. Gnanadeepam is proud that our kids won a medal at State level competition and participated at National level too. Their work is being appreciated by everyone.
Greeting Card Making
Our children are able to make greetings cards with various hand works on it. They are able to do floral prints, by drawing and painting scenery, animals etc, by spray painting. Their creativity and success have reflected in their colorful output and won accolades through regular orders.
Yoga Therapy
Our children require regular yoga therapy for their day to day activity. This increases strength, meditation, and focus and gives them lots of patience. It improves their health through yoga exercises.
Movement Therapy
Movement therapy is an important curriculum in the development of these God's children. It has been globally researched that movement therapy and Music therapy plays a vital role in the upliftment of these mentally challenged children. Professional Dance master visit regularly twice a week to impart training in movement therapy.
The learn each step with the beats of music. They love dance and music. Our children participated in various competitions and won prizes.
Parental Guidance and Counseling
Gnanadeepam guides every parent in imparting education to these God's children. It's a continuous training given to these children at school and at home. Many of them have appreciated our work and reflect in the improvement of each child either in speech, socialization, occupational or physical activity.
Today, we are proud to say 5 kids are working outside at various levels and by being independent and earn their living. Parents are well informed, advised and counselled on the needs of their children.
Psycho Social Intervention
Counselling the society to accept these children in our day-today life and give them equal importance on par with normal children.
Medical Care
Needy children are given medical care by recommending and getting doctor's appointment, regular check-up, purchasing medicines etc. Providing Hearing-Aid.
